Finally Here Part I

I can't believe I've finally arrived in Lesotho. As we were landing, I thought to myself "I'm home." That's a good feeling to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are right where God has destined you to be. It's summer here and let me tell ya, it's pretty hot! I didn't really think thru bringing a lot of summer clothes with me, so I'm going to head out and pick up some stuff today.

My flight from Atlanta to Johannesburg was a long one...a 15 year long one. It was a completely full flight, so as I got on the plane and found my seat, I prepared myself to fight over the armrest, and have to constantly excuse myself as I got up from my window seat to stretch my legs and use the restroom. As people continued to pile on the plane, the middle seat in between me and my aisle seat buddy remained "unclaimed." I thought to myself..."No way...every other seat on the plane is full, but this one??"

It then became a game as each person walked towards row 35, and kept moving right passed us. Before we knew it, the plane door was closing and we were pushing back from the gate with the middle seat open!! Hallelujah!! I can't tell you how nice it was to stretch out a little into the seat next to me. It's the little things I tell ya!

I arrived in Johannesburg around 5pm on Thursday, easily found my hotel and checked in. I was starving so I decided to head down to the cafe in the airport and eat. I enjoyed watching people from every nationality imaginable around me. I met a nice gentleman from Belgium that was waiting on his next flight. It was really cool to see lots of people traveling solo as well. I never once felt alone. I heard two of the bartenders working at the cafe speaking in what seemed a familiar language. I asked where they were from, and they said "Lesotho." Such a small world. There were little things like this all throughout my trip as if the Lord was reminding he was with me. So much peace. First meal eaten in South Africa you may ask?? FRENCH FRIES otherwise known as chips on this side of the world!

I then settled in my hotel room and tried to get some sleep. I didn't want to allow myself to get to bed too early, so I could try and adjust to the 8 hour time difference as soon as possible. I fell asleep easily then wham!! I was wide awake feeling as though I had slept all night. I look over at the clock and it's 330am. I laid in bed for the next couple of hours trying to get more sleep but nothing! Finally around 530 I decided to get up, get ready and head back to the cafe for breakfast. I got a delicious orange chocolate muffin orange juice and a cappuccino and found a nice little spot to watch the planes come in.
